Warm Drinks to Enjoy on Your Sofa this Autumn Season

What better way to enjoy the indoors on your sofa with a warm drink this fall season? Here are six different recipes you can try at home to keep you comfy and cozy on your couch. We’ve included some of the best and delicious fall flavors such as pumpkin, apple cider, and gingerbread.

1. Pumpkin Spice Latte

  • 2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy such as almond or coconut milk)
  • 2 tablespoon pumpkin puree
  • 1 to 3 tablespoons sugar, depending on how sweet you like it
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin spice, plus more for serving
  • 1/2 cup strong hot coffee
  • Whipped cream for serving

Directions

Add milk, pumpkin puree, and sugar to a saucepan over medium heat. Heat until hot, but do not boil. Remove the saucepan from the heat and whisk in the vanilla, pumpkin pie spice, and the coffee. Divide the mixture between two mugs. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice

2. Hot Rum Apple Cider Punch

  • 8 cups apple cider
  • 1 apple, thinly sliced crosswise
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced crosswise
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, thinly sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 cups dark rum

Directions

In a large pot, combine the apple cider, apple slices, orange slices, ginger slices and cinnamon sticks. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the rum.

3. Spiced Chai Latte

  • 2 bags black tea (any kind)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 5 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk

Fill a tea pot with 5-6 cups water. Add the tea bags and bring to a boil. Stir in the spices and turn the heat down to low. When you are ready to serve add 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk to each cup. Pour in the hot tea and stir to dissolve the milk. Serve with a cinnamon stick!

4.Caramel – Hazelnut Café Mocha

  • 8 cups half and half or light cream
  • 1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread
  • 1/2 cup caramel dessert sauce
  • 1/4 cup un sweetened cocoa powder
  • 2-3 tablespoons instant espresso coffee powder
  • whipped cream
  • caramel dessert sauce

Directions

In a 3 1/2- or 4-quart slow cooker whisk together half-and-half, chocolate-hazelnut spread, the 1/2 cup caramel sauce, the cocoa powder and espresso powder. Cover; cook on low for 5 to 6 hours, whisking once or twice during cooking if possible, and again before serving. Serve topped with whipped cream and, if desired, drizzle with additional caramel sauce.

5. Double Hot Chocolate

  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 2 3x1-inch strips orange peel
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 10 ounces bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • Unsweetened whipped cream

Directions

In a heavy medium saucepan, heat the milk, 1 cup cream, brown sugar, orange peel, and cayenne over medium-low heat until just simmering. Remove from heat. Add chocolate and vanilla; let stand 5 minutes. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and chocolate is melted. Return to medium-low heat; cook and stir until desired temperature. Remove orange peel. Pour into demitasse or small teacups and top with a small dollop of whipped cream.

6. Slow Cooker Gingerbread Mocha

  • 2 cups chocolate milk
  • 2 cups freshly brewed coffee
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup international delight gingerbread latte creamer

Directions

Combine all ingredients into slow cooker and set on low. Stir occasionally to make sure the molasses and ginger dissolve. Top with whipped cream and a dusting of ginger and cinnamon if desired.
